Penn Coal & Supply Company - New Castle PA

A photo of the Penn Coal & Supply Company, located at #910 Moravia Street on the South Side of New Castle. I believe this company, located near Home Street, was founded in the 1880’s and may have survived into the early 1940’s. The company owned and operated some coal mines along the Mercer Road in the Coaltown area of Neshannock Township. An advertisement for the company in the New Castle News of September 20, 1916, reads, “The quality coal we sell is impregnated with the proper caloric to make a comfortable heat. It is the fuel for your family furnace.” (c1920) Full Size
