In about 1799 a small group of Scotch-Irish settlers organized a Presbyterian congregation north of what became the village of Greersburg (later Darlington), Beaver County, Pennsylvania. They set up a “tent” church on rural land along the Little Beaver Creek that was owned by early settlers William and Leannah Wilson. Their congregation became known as the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. A few burials were also made at the location – the earliest probably being that of eighty-year-old Thomas Hartshore in 1800. The congregation abandoned this location within a few years. They moved several times in the early 1800’s and eventually settled in the heart of Darlington. Burials continued at the remote Mt. Pleasant Cemetery – usually called the Wilson Cemetery – and at some point the church formally acquired the four-acre parcel of land from the Wilson family. The former owners of the land, William Wilson (1771-1840) and Leannah Wilson (1774-1869), and many of their descendants are interred in the burial ground. The cemetery, which is still in active use today, is located along Route 168 about halfway between Darlington and New Galilee.

Interesting this Wilson Cemetery name. My maiden name is Wilson and I am from Butler Pa. I can get back to a Aaron Wilson br 1816 in Johnstown who’s father was a William Wilson br Pa no mother listed. Not found any siblings nothing.
The interest I have besides the Wilson surname is the BOYD surname.
My father was named William Boyd Wilson and he told me Boyd was a family name but he didn’t know how.
I did find that Aaron Wilson and wife Mary Ann Westlake had a son William Wilson who had a son named William Boyd Wilson br 1884 d 1914. He was my grandfather Herbert Leyman Wilson uncle. I am assuming that Grandpa named my father after his uncle. However where did his uncle Wm Boyd Wilson get his middle name from besides his father William Wilson?I have looked for years and cannot find the connection of Boyd to Wilson. Now I see a message from a Sharon Wilson Harris with both the Wilson and Boyd names in it and thought I would message this board incase anyone knows anything. Holler if you do please slc33@texas.net
