 The Rural House was a hotel/boarding house located somewhere on Main Street in New Bedford. Its longtime proprietor was J.N. Rodgers, a lifelong resident and leading citizen of New Bedford who died at the age of eighty-eight in October 1911. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. The hotel remained in operation for some time but I believe it closed – like so many other businesses – c1930 at the onset of the Great Depression. (c1905) Full Size |
